"I'm a comic book artist. So I think to myself, what do I like to draw? I like to draw hot chicks,
fast cars, and cool guys in trench coats. So that's what I write about." — Frank Miller
Frank Miller was born 27 January 1957 in Olney, Maryland; he was raised in Montpelier, Vermont. He has stated that he began his comic artist career after reading philosopher Ayn Rand's book "Romantic Manifesto" [1969].
He went to New York City at the age of 19 and was hired as a comic book artist the first week. His career began as a writer and then an illustrator at DC Comics and at Marvel Comics. His work with Batman and then RoboCop in the 80s and 90s brought wider fame. His Sin City stories were first comics and then graphic novels; the collaboration with Robert Rodriguez on the first Sin City movie basically invented a new genre of film, semi-animated graphic noir utilizing green/blue screen technology.
Miller was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2015 for his lifetime of contributions to the industry.
