psychiatrist Dr. Viktor E. Frankl [1905-97] of Austria
Viktor Frankl was captured by the Nazis and sent to camps with other Jews and survived for three years. After release in 1945, he wrote the book "… Trotzdem Ja zum Leben Sagen: Ein Psychologe Erlebt das Konzentrationslager", which translates roughly as 'nevertheless saying yes to life'; the English title is "Man's Search For Meaning". He founded Existential Psychoanalysis, called logotherapy, and made a career of that 'Third Viennese School', and received many honors in his lifetime. |
