Donald  J.  Trump
real estate tycoon & Emperor #45 & Dictator #47

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump is a fascist and a multiple bankrupt and a racist and a crook and a sexist pig;
the really sad part is that Trump was the best that the Republican Party could come up with to run for President of the U.S.A.
And then a large number of racist, xenophobic, reality-averse dimwits elected the man President!

If Donald Trump was a legitimate official under the U.S. Constitution, this would be the page for him as U.S. President. But things as they are
require a split: this page covers Trump the tycoon, the second page is for Emperor Trump and his fascist administration.
The third page was started in January 2021 and is called loser Donald J. Trump.

Donald Trump is the subject of so many non-fiction and parody and fiction books that these pages got yuge real fast,
so the Books About portions were cut from both and combined as DJTrump-books.htm in early 2020.

Grandfather Friedrich Trump was born in Germany in 1869; he arrived in New York City in 1886? and worked as a barber; in 1891 he joined the Klondike Gold Rush and built the Arctic Restaurant & Hotel (and saloon) in Bennett, British Columbia (between Yukon Territory and Southern Alaska). The business was also a brothel, and local Native Americans are restoring the site as a museum, figuring to attract tourism dollars. When the Klondike ran out of steam in 1901 and authorities threatened to shut down liquor sales and prostitution, 'Fred' Trump sold out and returned to Germany. He quickly married and returned to New York City; his wife was homesick for Germany, and they traveled back & forth, but three children were born in America in 1904, 1905 & 1907. He bought property in Queens and operated a hotel, but kept a low profile due to anti-German sentiment during the war. He died suddenly at age 49, one of the early victims of the 1918 Influenza Pandemic.

Donald Trump enjoyed playing soldier at the New York Military Academy, circa 1964 (see photo). But instead of actually serving, he received five deferments: four for education and after graduating college, a deferment for a 'bone spur' in his heel, although playing football, squash, tennis, and golf was never a problem.

the first Trump-for-President trial balloon in 1987,
numbskull Donald Trump almost ran again in 2011 for the 2012 race. (The domain www.impeachTrump.com was registered in January 2011; the minimum bid for auction in 2017 is $10,000.)

Business  History

Donald Trump made an estimated $300M building rental apartment villages in outer New York City in the 1960s. In 1971, he began a project to replace the crumbling Commodore Hotel [built 1919] atop Grand Central Station in Manhattan with the Grand Hyatt Hotel, which was completed in 1980 and further renovated in 1996 and 2011. He used those profits to finance Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue; construction began in 1979 and tenants were brought in from February to November 1983; the building is the current residence of himself and members of his family, and also company headquarters and headquarters for Trump's presidential campaign. Trump purchased the Barbizon Plaza Hotel and the adjacent 100 Central Park East in 1981 for $13 million and renamed them Trump Parc and Trump Park East; both buildings were converted to condominiums in 1988. Trump Palace in Upper East Side Manhattan is 54 stories tall and was completed in 1991. Trump purchased the 71-story commercial building at 40 Wall Street [built 1930] in 1995 and renamed it The Trump Building; Trump owes a $50M mortgage on the property. Trump World Tower in Manhattan was constructed from 1999 to 2001; it is 72 stories tall and stands across the street from United Nations headquarters. Trump purchased the former Hotel Delmonico [built 1929] in 2002 for $115M and renamed it Trump Park Avenue, reopening as condominium units in 2004. In late 2003, the Trump siblings sold their late father's real estate empire to a group of investors, reportedly for $600 million; Donald Trump's one-third share was $200 million, which he used to expand Trump Casino & Resorts. The 98-story Trump International Hotel & Tower in downtown Chicago, Illinois opened in January 2008 and was completed in January 2009.

According to evidence in the business fraud trial in New York City in September 2023:
==the Trump Organization exaggerated the value of 40 Wall Street, an apartment building in the Financial District
==the Trump Organization exaggerated the value of Seven Springs Estate, located north of New York City
==the Trump Organization exaggerated the value of the Aberdeenshire Golf Course in Scotland
==Trump Park Avenue in Manhattan, once a hotel, is now a residential building with 120 luxury flats and eight penthouse apartments; several of those flats were under rent restrictions by the city, reducing their value; but the Trump Organization acted as though they were market rate rents and inflated their value by as much as 700 percent.
==Trump and his sons also exaggerated the value of the Mar-a-Lago resort property in Palm Beach, Florida although its true value is subject to fierce debate, given that it depends on what a buyer is willing to pay. At various times, the Trumps claimed values of $426.5 million to $612.1 million. An appraisal by the Palm Beach County assessor pegged Mar-a-Lago's market value at $18 million to $27.6 million, and declared that the Trumps' figures were 'an overvaluation of at least 2,300 percent'. But were they? Even Trump's detractors say that a 17-acre property in Palm Beach with water on two sides is worth more than $27.6 million. In fact, Forbes has valued it at $350 million. However, it's not the sort of property that lends itself to single-family living; it's a true hotel resort with 126 rooms (including 58 bedrooms), a ballroom, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc., and some real estate types say that would limit the pool of potential buyers.
==Trump has owned a garish three-story penthouse apartment in Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan for decades, so presumably he knows how big it is; he told lenders that the apartment is 30,000 square feet – it's actually 11,000 square feet; the false information allowed him to claim on his loan applications that the apartment was worth $327 million, an eye-popping amount that no apartment/condo in New York City has ever sold for.

Trump branched out to build or buy casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Trump Plaza opened in 1984 and closed in 2014. Trump's Castle opened in 1985, was renamed Trump Marina in 1997, and was sold to Landry's in 2011 and renamed Golden Nugget. When Trump Taj Mahal opened in 1990 it drew customers away from the earlier two; the Trump casinos filed Chapter 11 four times (1991, 2004, 2009, 2014), cheating investors each time. Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts was founded in 1995; properties included the three Jersey casinos and the floating Trump Casino & Hotel in Gary, Indiana (opened in 1996, sold in 2005 and renamed the Majestic Casino), and Trump World's Fair Casino (opened 1996, closed 1999). T.H.C.R. took over management of the tribal-owned Spotlight 29 Casino near Palm Springs, California in 2000; the Indians bought out the contract in 2006. T.H.C.R. was reorganized as Trump Entertainment Resorts in 2004; bankruptcy court approved a reorganization/takeover by hedge fund Avenue Capital Management. T.E.R. closed Trump Plaza in 2014 and bankruptcy court approved a reorganization/takeover by Carl Icahn in February 2016; at that time, the only remaining property was the Taj Mahal Casino, which was shut down in October 2016.

Trump branched out again to build or buy or operate 17 golf resorts around the world; eleven locations are in the United States (Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California; 5 courses at Doral, Florida; Jupiter, Florida; West Palm Beach, Florida; Bedminster, New Jersey; Colts Neck, New Jersey; Briarcliff Manor, Westchester County, New York; Ferry Point, Bronx, New York; Hopewell, Hudson Valley, New York; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; and Potomac Falls {DC area}, Virginia; international golf facilities include: 2 sites in Dubai; Doonbeg, Ireland; Aberdeen, Scotland; and three courses at Turnberry, Scotland.

Other past Trump Organization business interests include:

  • The Miss Universe Pageant: founded in 1952, sold to Trump in 1996; joint venture with NBC in 2002; after Trump's inflamatory anti-immigrant campaign remarks in September 2015, NBC and Univision cancelled plans to broadcast the 2015 pageant; Trump bought NBC's 50% share and three days later sold the organization to talent agancy W.M.E./I.M.G.
  • defunct Trump Mortgage LLC: founded in April 2006, headed by E.J. Ridings; folded in 2007, name sold to First Meridian Mortgage; renamed Trump Financial; folded 'several years later'. The company is liable for unpaid tax leins and unpaid court settlements (2016).
  • Trump University LLC: a for-profit real estate training program founded in 2004; the company was shut down in 2010 after losing several consumer lawsuits; Trump University was forced to shut down all operations in Texas; criminal cases are still pending in New York State court and in New York federal court. The separate company Trump Institute produced real estate seminars in over 30 cities from 2006 to 2009; Trump Institute has recently been accused of plagiarism.
  • Trump Winery: Donald Trump purchased the Kluge Winery in Virginia in 2011 and gave (or sold) it to middle son Eric Trump; the property includes the Albemarle House luxury B&B and is no longer part of the Trump Organization.
  • defunct New Jersey Generals football team: franchise founded by Donald Trump in 1983, who soon sold out 'to concentrate on real estate'; the team played three seasons and the U.S. Football league folded in 1986.
  • defunct GoTrump.com travel website [2006-2007]
  • defunct Trump Airlines [1989-1992]
  • daughter Ivanka Trump's lines of clothing, jewelry, and fragrances were shut down in July 2018 because she needed to focus on her work in Washington as a senior aide to her father.

Other present Trump Organization business interests include:

  • a line of coffee drinks, a line of men’s wear (made by slave labor in foreign countries), a line of fragrances
  • Trump Restaurants (in his buildings)
  • Trump Ice brand natural spring water: formerly sold at national food stores, currently available only at Trump business locations.
  • "Trump: The Game" [launched 1989] board game
  • Trump Model Management agency was founded in 1999
  • Trump Vodka launched in January 2007
  • Trump Home {upscale handcrafted furnishings & decor designed by Dorya} was launched in spring of 2007
  • Trump Steaks launched in the Sharper Image catalog in 2007

Donald Trump may still own stock in Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners, the builder of both the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, and if so then he was in violation of his Oath of Office (U.S. Constitution Emoluments clauses) the minute that he was sworn in as President. News reports state that he owned between $500,000,000 and $1 million in E.T.P. stock in mid-2015, which had been reduced to $25,000 to $50,000 after the election. Trump also owns between $100,000 and $250,000 in stock in Phillips 66, one of the primary partners in E.T.P.

Since Donald Trump has failed to divest himself of conflict-of-interest assets by February 2017, the following retail businesses have ceased offering Trump family products or other connections: Uber, Nordstrom, Macy's, Shoes.com in Canada, Neiman Marcus, Wayfair home decor, and Bellacor home decor.

Feb-March 2018: Miami-based investor Orestes Fintiklis led a group that took over ownership of the 70-story Trump Tower [open 2011] in Panama City, Panama and canceled the naming/management contract; after twelve days of resistance (tweets, barricades, minor violence), Trump management and security employees were kicked out by local authorities; the Trump name was immediately removed from the building, soon to be replaced with 'Bahia Grand Panama' signage.

April 2018: The under-construction Trump Tower Hotel in Azerbaijan's capital of Baku caught fire at the middle of the 33 floors; no reports of injuries.

July 2018: Former residents of a building in Brooklyn owned by the Kushner Companies sued them about being forced out from rent-controlled apartments so that the units
could be sold as luxury condominiums. The suit alleges that unnecessary construction work targeted residents with 24/7 noise, dust, and vermin.  click here for photograph (in a new window)

Feb 2019: After years of Donald denying business dealings in Russia, somebody 'leaked' video of Himself meeting with the Mayor of Moscow in 1995; the half-minute news clip is in Russian, and the video clearly shows Donald seated directly across from the Mayor. Watch the nice commentary video on the David Pakman Show podcast [5:46].

March 2019: New York Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank regarding three loans to Donald Trump's company; the state also asked for
documents on a fourth loan that Trump wanted for a bid to buy the Buffalo Bills football team.

    E. Jean Carroll [b. 1943]
The former Elle Magazine advice columnist (1993-2019) published a book in 2019 that included accusations that she was sexually assaulted in the 1990s by CBS-TV exec Les Moonves and by Donald Trump; loudmouth Trump called the matter a hoax and called E. Jean a liar on his Truth Social platform; she filed a lawsuit in November 2022 against Trump for defamation and battery. The first trial ended with the jury convicting Trump and levying compensation of $5 million for damages; Trump repeated his slander and appealed; Carroll filed another lawsuit over the new defamation. In January 2024, a jury found Trump liable for $18.3 million in compensation for emotional & reputational harm, and $65 million in punitive damages, totaling $83.3 million. In March 2024, Trump was required to post a $91.6 million bond while the matter was on appeal. Further details can be found on the Trump trials page.

Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen set up a shell company in October 2016 and used it to pay former porn star Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, $130,000 to keep quiet about alleged extramarital sexual encounters with Trump (she denies that it was 'an affair'). Revealed by The Wall Street Journal and other news media in January 2018: documents use pseudonyms, except attorney Cohen used his real name.
The sexual encounters apparently took place at the American Century Celebrity Golf Chamnpionship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course at Lake Tahoe, Nevada in July 2006.

The bribery and cover-up of the Stormy Daniels 'hush money' events evolved into a federal criminal trial; the grand jury

Amy came forward in an interview with The Guardian to say that President Trump assaulted her outside the bathroom in his VIP box at the U.S. Open in September 1997; she was 24 at the time. Several people confirmed to the British newspaper that Dorris had told them about the alleged sexual assault just after it happened, including a friend and her mother, and in the years after it happened, including a therapist. Trump kissed and groped her without her consent, he "just shoved his tongue down my throat and I was pushing him off," she said. "And then that's when his grip became tighter and his hands were very gropey and all over my butt, my breasts, my back, everything." Dorris said she considered coming forward in 2016, when numerous women accused Trump of similar assaults, but decided not to because she didn't want to hurt her family.

The New Yorker Magazine reporter Ronan Farrow confirmed the authenticity of a document detailing an alleged affair between former Playboy Playmate (circa 1997-98) Karen McDougal and then-married real estate tycoon Donald Trump from August 2006 to April 2007; the eight-pages of handwritten notes say that they met many times over a nine month period at a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel. American Media Inc., publisher of the National Enquirer gossip tabloid, paid $150,000 for McDougal's story but never ran it, which has led to allegations that it deliberately bought the story and killed it to protect Trump, who is personal friends with A.M.I. chief executive David Pecker.

she was a contestant on "The Apprentice" and says that Trump assaulted her in a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2007, his bodyguard brought her to Trump's bungalow instead of to the hotel dining room; Trump called her a liar, so she sued him for defamation in New York state court. Everything that Zervos has said about the encounter that could be verified has been: Trump was staying at the hotel at the time Zervos says the assault occurred; he had asked Zervos to meet him there for lunch; his bodyguard was there as well; and phone records show that Trump called Zervos several times during that time period.
