Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was born in July 1907 in Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico; she survived polio at age 6; she nearly died of injuries from a bus-streetcar
accident in 1925. She married artist Diego Rivera in August 1929, he divorced her in November 1939, and they remarried in December 1940 in California. Frida's health got
progressively worse, and the last few years of her life, she was essentially bedridden upstairs at Casa Azul; she died at home in July 1954 at age 47.
