        Robert Anson Heinlein was born in Butler, Missouri in 1907. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1934, studied mathematics & physics at the University of California, and then owned a silver mine before beginning his writing career in 1939. His first book, "Rocket Ship Galileo" was published in 1947. He won Hugo Awards for "Double Star" (1956), "Starship Troopers" (1959), "Stranger In A Strange Land" (1961), and "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" (1966). Among his other awards was the Grand Master Nebula Award in 1975.
        Robert Heinlein died 8 May 1988 in Carmel, California.
