Edward Paul 'Cactus Ed' Abbey was born 29 January 1927 in Pennsylvania,
and raised necessary hell in the wilderness
until his death 14 March 1989 near Tucson, Arizona.
Ed was a ranger at Arches in Utah in 1956 & 1957, which he wrote about in "Desert Solitaire" [1968].
