"Billy The Kid" Broadway stageplay [1906]
Written by Walter Woods & Joseph Santley; bare credits at IBDb
In 1906, Woods partnered with Joseph Santley to rework or polish his 1903 “Billy The Kid” four-act comedy drama; the new version opened on Broadway (with 17-year-old Santley appearing as Billy) in August 1906 (number of performances unknown); LeRoy Sumner took over the role of Billy and by all reports the part fit the actor well. “Billy The Kid” went on tour and received a glowing review in Syracuse, New York, also touring in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio through January of 1908.
