Oscar-Winning  Western  Movies
{ in chronological order }
       | Only three Western feature films have won Best Picture Oscars in the 80+ years of the Academy Awards. So Westerns that were nominated for Best Picture or won or were nominated in other major categories are included here. The list is still too short. |
       | This page kept showing up as the most-popular page on my five online bookstore websites, so I decided to add more data for visitors to enjoy (and more choices for purchase via Amazon). The Western Heritage Awards were begun in 1961, given out each year since by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum [est. 1955] of Oklahoma City. A certain amount of work gleaning results from IMDb made a nice list of films to add or to have the little statue graphic added to an existing entry. It turned out that only five movies on this page won the award, the rest are among the movies & TV shows on the Western Film Festival Pages. |
