The state Board of Finance gave the final approval in April 2018 for an on-campus taproom at the Student Union Building in Albuquerque; the $650,000 facility is expected to be open by this fall. The university licensed a red ale named after the sports teams in August 2017; the 6.2% ABV Lobo Red brew is manufac-tured at Kelly's Brewpub and is available on tap there and in cans at 'select' athletic events. UPDATE 10/2018: Kelly's Lobo Red has disappeared; U.N.M. and Rio Bravo Brewing announced a collaboration to create El Lobo Rojo, a classic wheat beer brewed with fresh cherry juice that has an ABV of 5.5 percent.
