Google

Google Australia
Google Canada
Google Ireland
Google South Africa

      Google remains the most popular search engine, and while they use ODP, there is also an 'add URL' submission page. They have many discrete search sites by country & language, each of which offers paid submission options. But the free submission to the main Google add URL function is still the best deal: the spider checks your entire website from your entry of the domain URL.

Brit Index
      Conceived as a directory with a "U.K. perspective", Brit Index has a free add URL function; sub- missions are reviewed for general relevance to the United Kingdom, which may take 2-10 working days before being posted.

      The Discover Ireland Directory launched in 2006, and the software works very nicely. The Submit Link function is free, but is for Irish or Irish-related content only.add Irish content only
Search Ireland
      Search Ireland's add URL function is free, but requires each entry to be related to Ireland; they also spider sites and take advertising. This is an index/directory, and an array of drop-down categories are included on the submission page.

      The U.K. Index has both a free add URL function and a for-fee option via Espotting. The free option requires [free] signup for an account – so you can log back in for changes & additions.

Canada [dot] com
      Canada.com is now a meta-search engine, and they advise adding your site/page URL to each engine individually (which they provide links for). The engine has a French-language search option (as required by law), but the results are the same as from the English search page.

      At present, AusDirectory is a small, free directory of Australian business websites, with plans to add a search function soon. Each submission is reviewed and acceptance is confirmed.

Anzwers {part of Yahoo}

      The ANZwers – for Australia & New Zealand – search engine was taken over by Yahoo AU/NZ, which is the senior engine: Anzwers gets its results from Yahoo! AU/NZ, which in turn pulls some results from the main Yahoo! database. But it may be very worthwhile to be included in the AU/NZ Directory, especially if your content is international in scope.
      The add URL process for their AU/NZ database is the same as all Yahoo! sites: 'drill down' to the category in the AU/NZ Yahoo! Directory where your site/page belongs, and once there click on 'Suggest a Site'.

AussieSeek of Australia
      The AussieSeek search engine is a one-man operation, yet is quite well-known; and not only that: the man has only 5% vision (so make allowance for the visual busy-ness). The free 'submit link' function is a simple entry for inclusion at the free4all site.

Matilda Aussie Net Search       Matilda Aussie Net Search was started in 1994, and bills itself as 'Australia's Number One Search Engine'. A search will pull up entries from their directory, plus entries from DMOZ/Open Directory Project, with links at the end to retry the search among 11 meta-engines. They charge a 'one off' {one time only} fee of $66 AUS for inclusion to their directory. for-fee add
Net Exposure Australian Web Directory: Providing Quality Sites for Australians       NetExposure is a tightly-monitored directory of Australian web listings. Most are 'Basic', which is free for 'non-commercial' sites (no ads) and US$5 per URL for others; the Premium category is US$25 per URL; cost is refunded if rejected. The process includes the usual directory 'drill-down' to the category where the submission belongs. Premium listings appear first, and the Basic listings are also ranked by visitor voting. submission options
New Zealand Search {directory}
      NZsearch is the directory – categorized by humans – operated by NZCity (see also the SearchNZ engine below). Both are clearly restricted to sites owned/built by Kiwis, sites intended for Kiwis, sites about New Zealand, or sites with the .NZ suffix.

Search New Zealand {engine}
      SearchNZ is the search engine operated by NZCity (see also the NZsearch web directory above). Both are clearly restricted to sites owned/built by Kiwis, sites intended for Kiwis, sites about New Zealand, or sites with the .NZ suffix.

WebSearch for both AU & NZ
Australia
New Zealand
      The WebSearch engine was launched in March 1994, and toggles between Australia & New Zealand sites with ease. The Add Your Site page is very specific that additions to the database are currently restricted to domains with .AU and .NZ suffixes; they are keeping other submissions (.UK & .JP & .com, etc.) on hold until expanding the database later. Their aim is to provide exclusively Australia- or New Zealand-related results for each query.
.AU and .NZ sites only
Australia's Web Wombat engine
      Billing themselves as 'the original Australian search engine', Web Wombat charges a minimal AU$65 for up to 150 pages; there is also a for-fee Featured Links option; there is no 'free' option. Though Web Wombat says they 'prefer' .AU and .NZ sites, and those with AU/NZ-related content, they are not restrictive.

      The SearchZA.com search engine & directory was established in 2004 by iEntry of Kentucky, USA with the purpose of providing a directory of dot-ZA domains for users inside the Republic of South Africa and also for folks elsewhere wanting to search sites about South Africa. Submission to them is free and reviewed by a human: though they do not specify such, expect that approval of free sub-missions depends on the site/page being a dot-ZA site or otherwise related to South Africa. There is also a paid advertising option.submit URL
African Advice Business Directory [est. 2013]       The African Advice Business Directory was launched in April 2013 and claims 500K entries; the categories are so far incomplete and more information is expected to be added.
