"When I started reading novels that really charged me or did something to me, that's when
I started thinking that maybe I would like to build stories instead of houses."

"When you surf, the ultimate goal is to get into a pipeline where the water circles around you and
that's all there is. In writing, it's the same thing. You want to get into this pipeline where the story
is circling around you and that's all there is. That is writing nirvana to me."

—  Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly worked as a newspaper 'crime beat' reporter in Florida and Los Angeles, California before beginning the Harry Bosch detective novel series. "The Black Echo" won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel of 1992 from Mystery Writers of America. He has continued writing books in the Bosch series, while also branching out successfully with "The Poet" [1996] and "Blood Work" [1998 book, 1999 Clint Eastwood feature film], 'Lincoln Lawyer' Mickey Haller [2005 bestseller, 2011 film], and others.
He is currently active as President of Mystery Writers of America, as guest editor of the next 'Best American Mystery Stories' book, and completing further novels & short stories. He and his family live in Florida.
