N.B.A. legend Elgin Baylor [1934-2021]
starred for 14 seasons for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers; Baylor has been credited with helping make professional basketball faster paced and is considered one of the greatest players of all time. The 11-time All Star led the Lakers to eight finals appearances; they lost six NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics, and one to the New York Knicks, finally winning in 1971-72, but Baylor retired early in the season. He scored 71 points in a game in 1960, a league record that Wilt Chamberlain broke two years later with a 100-point game.
