Both Technicolor and Deluxe Labs are owned by MacAndrews & Forbes. What appears to be an operational merger was announced in July 2011, with Technicolor subcontracting North America bulk release printing to Deluxe while Deluxe will subcontract its 35mm print distribution business to Technicolor; Deluxe will also subcontract its 35mm/16mm color negative processing business to Technicolor in London. Technicolor is closing its North Hollywood lab and moving its 65mm/70mm print business to Technicolor Glendale. Technicolor’s film lab in Mirabel (Montreal), Canada is shutting down. Also announced in July 2011, Technicolor is acquiring post-production house Laser Pacific from Kodak; the Hollywood-based operation (the result of a merger of Pacific Video and Laser Edit over 25 years ago) will be rebranded as Technicolor Laser Pacific. Also, Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. is selling its physical & electronic distribution business to Technicolor. |
