"Captain Z-Ro" syndicated TV series [1951-56]
title screenshot for 'Captain Z-Ro' 1950s TV series  "Captain Z-Ro and his teenage sidekick Jet (and others) travel through time learning about history in order to help the future." The production values and storylines were barely a step above kids playing in the backyard with a treehouse and some cardboard boxes; the thing to remember is that such was state-of-the-art for local children's television in the 1950s. • The first season was 51 quarter-hour episodes that were aired in 1951-53 on KRON in San Francisco and KTTV in Los Angeles and kinescoped (filmed from a TV monitor) for syndication; the second season were 26 half-hour episodes on 16mm film. The 26 latter episode titles are: 1) Christopher Columbus; 2) Daniel Boone; 3) William Tell; 4) Geng-his Khan; 5) Hernando Cortez; 6) King Alfred; 7) Washington and Howe; 8) Adventure in Space; 9) Attila the Hun; 10) Aztec Papers; 11) Benedict Arnold; 12) Blackbeard the Pirate; 13) Captain Cook & The Hawaiian Islands; 14) Curse of Ra {not on Archive}; 15) Discovery of Gold; 16) King John; 17) Leonardo DaVinci; 18) Magellan (1956); 19) Marco Polo {not on Archive}; 20) Meteor; 21) Molly Pitcher; 22) Pony Express; 23) Robin Hood; 24) Roger The Robot {see below}; 25) The Great Pyramid of Giza; and 26) William the Conqueror

GOLD STAR: listed on Business Insider's The 35 Books Everyone Should Read At Least Once In Their Lifetime, 9/2013  "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan

"Doctor Who" TV series [launched 1963]
BBC poster for 'Doctor Who' TV series  "Doctor Who" originally ran for 26 seasons on BBC One, from November 1963 until December 1989 (for 694 episodes); the 2005 revival (115 episodes thru 2015) is scheduled to run until 2020. There are also two feature-length productions (1983's "The Five Doctors" and the 1996 TV movie), eight Christmas specials, and four additional specials in 2009, 2010 and 2013. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show, a special 3-D episode "The Day of The Doctor" was broadcast in 2013. There are roughly 180 novelizations, both of episodes/serials and of new stories, published from 1963 to 2016.

The 'TARDIS' looks like a British police telephone box but the name is an acronym of 'Time and Relative Dimension In Space' – it is a time machine.

"Doctor Who has never pretended to be hard science fiction . . . At best Doctor Who is a fairytale, with fairytale logic about this wonderful man
in this blue box who at the beginning of every story lands somewhere where there is a problem." ~~~ Neil Gaiman
