"We do not know, we guess."

"Those who promise us paradise on earth never produced anything but a hell."

"Always remember that it is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood: There will always be some who misunderstand you."

"The growth of knowledge depends entirely upon disagreement."

"Political freedom - freedom from despotism - is the most important of all political values. And we must always be prepared to struggle for political freedom.
It can always be lost. We should never sit back and assume that our freedom is secure." - in "All Life Is Problem Solving" [1994]

Wittgenstein's Poker book by David Edmonds & John Eidinow  "Wittgenstein's Poker: The Story of A Ten-Minute Argument Between Two Great Philosophers" [2001 bestseller] by David Edmonds & John Eidinow
In October 1946, Austrian philosopher Karl Popper was invited to lecture at Cambridge University in England. A meeting was arranged with fellow Austrian Ludwig Wittgenstein [1889-1951], along with their common mentor Bertrand Russell. But the great minds clashed from the beginning, sparks flew, and Wittgenstein supposedly threatened Popper with a fireplace poker. Accounts of witnesses vary in extreme, and the authors here attempt to determine the facts.
