          she was the first woman registered to vote in Concord
          LMA sailed twice to Europe, the first trip was from July 1865 to July 1866; she went as the hired companion to an invalid named Anna Weld; that trip included stops at many spas, in England, Belgium, Germany, SW (Vevy) & France; Louisa parted from Weld in Nice and proceeded alone to Paris, where she saw the sites with Wisniewski, then ended her stay in London.
          The second trip was from April 1870 to June 1871; that trip was as the successful author of LW and AOFGirl, in the company of her sister May Alcott and friend Alice Bartlett; it began in Brittany and continued in SW; to avoid the Franco-Prussian War, the ladies traveled thru Italy; Louisa wrote "Little Men" while in Rome.

In 1862, Louisa moved to Washington, D.C. to volunteer as a nurse; she fell ill in January 1863 and her father came and took her back to Orchard House.

Louisa's first trip to Europe was from July 1865 to July 1866.
Louisa's second trip to Europe was from April 1870 to June 1871.

Bronson Alcott left Orchard House in 1877 when his wife died.
