Henry Weinhard [1830-1904] arrived in America from Germany in 1856 and worked for various brewers across the country; he founded his own brewery in 1862 in Portland, Oregon; the Weinhard Brewery Complex building in Down-town Portland was completed in 1908. A merger in the 1930s formed Blitz-Weinhard Brewing; the making of Henry's Private Reserve Premium Beer began in 1976. The company was sold to Pabst in 1979, to Stroh's in 1996, and to con-glomerate Miller in 1999; operations were moved to Olympia Brewing in Tumwater, WA. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and redeveloped as offices and retail space • The currently-available offerings shown on the official Henry Weinhard's website include the Private Reserve Premium Beer and Blue Boar Double-hopped Pale Ale; the company is now Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company of Golden, Colorado.
