"I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician:
he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale."
— Marie Curie [1867-1934]
"Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."
— C.S. Lewis [1898-1963]
"Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
— G.K. Chesterton [1874-1936]
The  Books
As work progressed on the Brothers Grimm of Germany Page, it became clear that after 1884, the popular books mostly utilized the 'definitive' translations by
Margaret Hunt, so the significant difference among the books became the illustrations. And after coding lots of books there, the important/complete publications
were kept and the other, smaller or more recent editions were cut over to this page.

Non-Fiction on the Subject
The  Tales
Book 1 of "Kinder und Hausmärchen" was published in 1812 with 86 stories, which are designated by scholars as KHM1 to KHM86. Book 2 of "Kinder und Hausmärchen" was published in 1815 with 114 stories, KHM87 to KHM200; ten children's legends (Kinderlegende) were added to the 1819 edition, KHM201 to KHM210. The total story count is 240 tales, plus or minus.
Of course, the combined page got real big real fast, so it was soon split into two parts:
top of page 2 • the tales • book 1 • book 2 • other tales
The  Authors
The Brothers Grimm were born in the town of Hanau in Hesse-Cassel (now Germany): Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm in 1785 and Wilhelm Carl Grimm in 1786; they spent most of their childhood in the nearby town of Steinau. They attended the University of Marburg where they began a lifelong dedication to researching the early history of German language and literature, including German folktales. Their collection of "Kinder- Und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales)" was first published in two volumes in 1812 and 1815, with much revision for each subsequent edition and expansion from 156 stories to more than 200. Individually, they published a large body of linguistic and literary scholarship; together, in 1838, they began work on a massive historical "German Dictionary (Deutsches Wörterbuch)" which, in their lifetimes, they completed only as far as the word 'Frucht (fruit)' - the dictionary was completed by others with Volume 32 in 1961 {sic} and a supplemental Volume 33 in 1971!

Searle Dawley’s sensationally popular cinematic adaptation of the hit theatrical production of "Snow White"; this viewing was the reason that Walt's first animated feature was the story of "Snow White" • Presented by Daniel Frohman; produced & cinematography by H.
